Palestinians stands by the rubble of houses destroyed by Israeli strikes in Shijaiyeh neighbourhood, Gaza Strip after more than 50 day’s of war. The six-week Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip has killed at least 2,091 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and wounded 10,500. Thousands of Gaza residents who had fled Israel-Hamas fighting streamed back to devastated border areas and were met by large-scale destruction: scores of homes were pulverized, wreckage blocked roads and power cables dangled in the streets. After 6 months from the end of the war, the situation of Palestinians in Gaza continues to worsen. The lack of electricity, water and heating, coupled with the cold winter temperatures, own seasonal rains that have brought flooding and the blockade of materials and fuel to help rebuild and restart the damaged economy of the region make survival a real challenge. Shijaiyeh neighbourhood, Gaza Strip on 20 January 2015.
